Matthew 12:50 - Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!"

Faith family is one of the biggest ‘up-sides’ on this side of Heaven.  When you find relationships even thicker than blood family in church it is because you are now a new kind of blood family - the blood of Jesus that was shed for you was also shed for them.  That unites beyond anything on earth.

Yield

Lord, help me to treat my brothers and sisters in You like the amazing family they are!

Extra Discovery

Jesus wasn’t shunning His family…just elevating His followers.  Read John 19:26 to see the amazing love Jesus showed towards His mother at the end of His earthly ministry.

Revelation

When Marred by Sin, you are God’s enemy (Ephesians 5:10) but when Jesus Mendes you that relationship changes from enemy to family (1 John 3:1-2).  That relationship gives you access to the blessings of God now and forever!

3:16 Plan - Week 38 - Day 4 - Year 2 - Matthew 12:38-45

Jesus told the people about his death and resurrection and most of them still missed it. We must pay attention.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 12:40 - For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

Jesus taught in Matthew 5 that ‘blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God’.  If we are only about our own agenda (like some of the religious leaders seemed to be) then we will miss all that God is doing around us.

Yield

Lord, I want to never miss anything You are doing!

Revelation

Being Morphed by the Spirit means the Holy Spirit of God indwells and lives in the Christ-Follower.  That means we have a ‘no vacancy’ sign on us in the spiritual realm and cannot be possessed by any evil spirit.  Jesus is teaching here that people without faith in Him experience bad and worse.

3:16 Plan - Week 38 - Day 3 - Year 2 - Matthew 12:25-37, Mark 3:20-30

Jesus’ power is in multiplication, not division!

Mark 3:24 - A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse.

When we don’t understand something, we often either fear it or loathe it.  Many of the religious leaders of Jesus’ day did both.  Here, they accuse Him of being in league with the arch enemy of God - Satan.  This is about as low of an accusation as possible and got the greatest rebuke now called ‘the unforgivable sin’ which is at minimum to not follow nor believe in Christ and instead attribute His good works to the evil one.

Yield

Lord, I will be a uniter and not a divider.

Revelation

The Enemy of God loves to hold a person down in the Marring of Sin and loves to hold a Christ-Follower down by keeping them Misled.  Satan has power, yes, but his power is limited and minimal compared to the power of Christ shown in His earthly ministry and His powerful resurrection.  Let us never attribute the work of satan to God nor attribute the work of God to satan.  A biblical worldview will help us avoid such sin.

3:16 Plan - Week 38 - Day 2 - Year 2 - Luke 8:1-3, Matthew 12:22-24

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Luke 8:3 - and many others, who provided for them out of their means.

Jesus went on another road trip and his small band of followers had grown to include both men and women who were helping support the group by meeting their needs.  Yet, there were also some polar opposite reactions to Christ as there were still many who did not place faith nor generosity towards Christ and even put blasphemous accusations towards Him.

Yield

Lord, let my generosity be free in Your Spirit.

Revelation

When Jesus Mends a person, He gives them a new Mindset, changes their heart Motivation and develops within them a Ministry.  That means they even treat their finances differently and see the opportunity to invest in His Kingdom as a great blessing.  These followers who were helping provide for the disciples are great examples of this trait of generosity.

To serve Christ takes on many different forms…find the way He is calling you to serve Him.

Jesus spent time with many different people groups and social classes.  In this account, He is with some wealthier folks in their home and also joined by a woman only known as ‘immoral’.  The two social classes would clash but Jesus brings clarity and love into the situation.  Jesus brought His love into settings that needed it and gave us a charge to do the same.

Yield

Lord, You have forgiven me much and I love You much!

Extra Discovery

Take a look at Luke 12:48 to see another word from Jesus on how the level of blessing translates into the Christian Life.

Revelation

At what point does God love a person?  Is it once they have accepted Christ and have been Mended?  Certainly, His love is present at that time.  However, God’s love for us is eternal.  It was present before He Made you and it was present when you became Marred by Sin and it will be present even if you are Misled by the Enemy.  Knowing the love of God in this way helps you live in that love rather than try to earn it.  Living in that love will also help you reciprocate love to God just as this woman did at Simon’s house that day.

3:16 Plan - Week 37 - Day 5 - Year 2 - Matthew 11:25-30

Simple faith in God is a prerequisite to experience God.

Jesus modeled many prayers to the Father.  In this one, He blessed a simple faith and then spoke one of the most comforting passages in the New Testament…a promise of rest for the Christ-Follower who surrenders to His leadership.  Jesus calls us to come and find rest in Him.

Yield

Lord, I trust You and place my faith in You.

Extra Discovery

Read Matthew 18:2-4 for another example of having faith towards God like a trusting child does towards a parent.

Revelation

The Son chooses to reveal the Father to those whom have childlike faith.  This then is an attribute of Knowing God.  Develop a faith that is dependent upon God in this way and you will grow to Know God better and better.

3:16 Plan - Week 37 - Day 4 - Year 2 - Matthew 11:20-24

The purpose of Jesus’ supernatural healing ministry was to bring us a faith that leads to repentance.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 11:20 - Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where he had done so many of his miracles, because they hadn't repented of their sins and turned to God.

He had healed the sick, fed the hungry and even raised the dead to life yet the people were resistant to His ultimate message…that Jesus had come to save us from our sin.  Here Jesus denounces their lack of faith and compares their fate to some evil people of Old Testament renown.  The point is this, all the amazing stuff God has done and is doing in the world has been for the purpose of you placing your faith in Christ to save you from your sin.  Have you?  Will you?

Yield

Lord, I repent of my lack of faith and turn to You.

Revelation

Knowing Jesus can do miracles isn’t enough.  To be Mended by Christ, we must come to the place where we place our faith in Him as the Son of God and repent of our sinfulness.  From that position we are forgiven and made new and our sin is removed from us as far as the east is from the west!
