3:16 Plan- Week 27 - Day 5 - Year 3 - 1 Corinthians 15-16

Christ-followers have a great hope because of the Good News that Jesus died and rose again to make us right with God if we repent of sin and place faith in Him.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. 2 It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you--unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place. 3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

First, we believe the Gospel.  Next, we wait for our hope of Christ’s return.  Then we live eternally with Christ.  This is the faith of the christian and it is not complex.  Stay true to this hope and find a power that defeats death, doubt and any other weapon the enemy throws at you.

Yield

Lord, I will find my hope in Christ alone.

3:16 Plan - Week 27 - Day 3 - Year 3 - 1 Corinthians 12-13

As a Christ-Follower, you are called to be a part of something so big and great that God’s Word calls it The Body of Christ.  This is an illustration to explain the beauty of being a part of God’s Church.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

1 Corinthians 12:27 - All of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it.

God empowers us by His Holy Spirit to do great things and surrounds us by others who are empowered uniquely to do other great things.  In this great truth we learn that we are each different.  Rather than let that be a divider, it should be a unifier.  For, when we recognize the power of His unique design and allow ourselves to come together and serve, then we can experience the true joy of the Christian life.

Yield

Lord, I will humble serve as part of Your Body.

Revelation

The Lord includes us who are Mended by His sacrifice.  We can Know that we are part of His Body.  We can enjoy His Love knowing He is the Head of the Body.  We can Obediently Serve Him as indispensable members of His Body.

3:16 Plan - Week 27 - Day 2 - Year 3 - 1 Corinthians 11

We imitate Christ and His way and the Lord sometimes allows us the blessing of others that are following Him whole-heartedly so we can imitate them.  Maybe your life could become an example for another Christ-follower?

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

1 Corinthians 11:1 - And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.

Jesus is the boss.  Jesus calls us to be a part of His Body of believers.  Within that Body, each person is gifted uniquely (see tomorrows text) and each person has different roles and responsibilities.  No matter your God-given role, you are each called to join together with one-another at His table where we each come to God from the same position: humble, needy and thankful.

Yield

Lord, I will happily come to Your table often to remember Your great love in Christ represented by the Bread and the Cup.

Revelation

When Christ help up the Cup during Passover it was to symbolize the cup of suffering He would soon endure as well the Blood He would shed so we can be Mended by Him from our Marred condition.  It is by His Body and Blood that we can be Mended/Saved and nothing else.

There is so much at stake for us to live out our faith in an others-focused way.  This is why Paul encourages us to seek Common Ground…to give of ourselves in ways to develop bridges rather than wedges in our lives.

Yield

Lord, I will seek Common Ground with others especially those outside of faith in Christ.

Revelation

The cloud that guided the Israelites (mentioned at chapter 10) is a great visual of the Holy Spirit of God.  Just like that cloud, we are blessed to have a Holy God that allows us to follow Him.  In this follower-ship we are blessed to find safety and direction…to Know, Love and Obediently Serve the One we follow.

3:16 Plan - Week 26 - Day 2 - Year 3 - 1 Corinthians 1-2

There are three types of people on the planet: a natural person, a spiritual person and a carnal person.  Which you are will determine your life and eternity.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

1 Corinthians 2:14-15 People who aren't spiritual can't receive these truths from God's Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can't understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things

The natural person is someone who has no ‘supernatural’ ability to trust God.  They don’t have faith and can’t understand anything spiritual.  The spiritual person is the person whose spirit has been made alive in Christ by faith in Jesus.  The carnal (worldly) person is a person who has been made alive in Christ but their growth has been stunted.  They must be bottle-fed the things of God until they surrender to His Spirit in a more complete way.

Yield

Lord, I will grow by Your Spirit into a mature Christ-follower.

Revelation

When Mended by the blood of Jesus we become spiritual people.  Not longer bound by our natural and sinful pasts, we can grow into maturity in Christ as the Holy Spirit Morph’s us into His likeness.  However, when we don’t participate with the Holy Spirit we get stuck in a carnal and worldly mindset rather than letting that Morphing affect our Mindset, our Motivations and ultimately the Ministry of our lives.

3:16 Plan - Week 26 - Day 1 - Year 3 - 1 Corinthians 1

The gospel seems foolish to many but when accepted by faith and repentance it is the most powerful thing in the universe!

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Corinth was a messy church that Paul wrote a letter to to try and get them back on track.  He reminds them that they have all they need and that God’s plan for them is to be in harmony with one another and empowered by God’s Spirit.

Revelation

Wisdom is a gift of God to the Christ-follower.  There are many smart things happening in the world that might seem wise in the short-term but are not when in view of the Cross.  Wisdom is one of the spiritual gifts granted to a Christ-follower who is being Morphed by the Holy Spirit.

3:16 Plan - Week 25 - Day 2 - Year 3 - Acts 19

The battles of the spiritual life are never easy but can always be victorious when we ask God to fight for us!

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Acts 19:13 A group of Jews was traveling from town to town casting out evil spirits. They tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantation, saying, "I command you in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, to come out!" 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a leading priest, were doing this. 15 But one time when they tried it, the evil spirit replied, "I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?"

Power for the Christ-follower comes only through Christ, His Word and His Holy Spirit.  When we attempt to do things in our own flesh and our own strength then we will find ourselves woefully ill equipped to fight the battles of the spiritual life.  Praise God, we don’t have to fight in our own strength!

Yield

Lord, I will stand in faith as You fight the battles waged spiritually all around me.

Revelation

The enemy has power.  His power deceives, divides and ultimately destroys.  Your weapons against his warfare are not physical.  As you ask God to fight the battles around you then you are surrendering to His Holy Spirit.  He morph’s you into a spiritual warrior and brings victory to a life that would be left in utter defeat otherwise!
