3:16 Plan - Week - Day 5 - Year 3 - Matthew 22:15-22, Mark 12:13-17, Luke 20:20-26

One of religion & politics worst decisions is to develop additional layers of authority underneath God, His Law and His Way.  Structure is good but separation is bad.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 22:18 - But Jesus knew their evil motives.

Read - Matthew 22:15–22; Mark 12:13–17; Luke 20:20–26

Once again being ‘trapped’ by these clever religious leaders, Jesus teaches a powerful truth.  Your responsibility towards God will never be diminished by earthly responsibility.  Likewise, we can never use our spiritual responsibility to shirk our earthly responsibilities.

Yield

Lord, I will live with the generosity of Jesus.

Extra Discovery

Read Romans 13:6-7.

Revelation

Knowing God means knowing His way and seeking His will.  When it comes to ‘how we live in the world’, we must never use our faith as a crutch to keep us from doing what is right.  Doing right could be paying taxes or it could be living generously.  When we choose wrong, we prove we might have a heart condition…not enough love.  Let’s live in the light and live with the knowledge that everything is the Lord’s and that includes us.

3:16 Plan - Week 7 - Day 4 - Year 3 - Matthew 22:1-14

The greatest party invitation of your life has been given to you by Christ…have you accepted it?

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 22:8-10 - 8 And he said to his servants, 'The wedding feast is ready, and the guests I invited aren't worthy of the honor. 9 Now go out to the street corners and invite everyone you see.' 10 So the servants brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike, and the banquet hall was filled with guests.

Each of us has been given the ultimate invitation.  Will we choose Christ and spend eternity with God or not?  We won’t get the chance to spend that good eternity without Christ (like the man without the proper clothing).

Yield

Lord, I surrender to You as you clothe me in Your righteousness.

Extra Discovery

Similar to the Parable we read a few weeks ago in Luke 14:15-24 but has some big distinctions.

Revelation

When Mended, we are spiritually clothed in the righteousness of Christ as pictured in Revelation 19:8.  We are also spiritually clothed in the armor of God as we are Morphed by His Holy Spirit to minister (Ephesians 6).  Paul describes baptism as the public act of ‘putting on Christ like new clothes’ (Galatians 3:27).  Are you clothed by Christ?

3:16 Plan- Week 7 - Day 3 - Year 3 - Matthew 21:33-46, Mark 12:1-2, Luke 20:9-19

God is the vineyard owner and has planted our lives like valuable vines that He desires to produce fruit.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 21:43 - I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.

Read - Matthew 21:33–46; Mark 12:1–12; Luke 20:9–19

Jesus continues to teach the religious leaders of Israel that their denial of His Lordship will result in their damnation and that now the fruit that God desired that nation to produce will be expected from others.  That means that God would graciously offer His blessings on a broader group that included most of us reading this text today!

Yield

Lord, any part of my life that denies Your authority is in sin and I surrender it to you.

Revelation

God offered salvation to His people (Israel).  Some accepted Christ and were Mended.  Others rejected it and remained Marred by Sin.  Jesus is the Cornerstone of salvation which means any other ‘method’ to be saved (works, etc.) will result in a house that does not stand.

3:16 Plan - Week 7 - Day 2 - Year 3 - Matthew 21:28–32

Your work will not save you but your faith will/should/better produce good works as its supernatural result.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 21:31 - Then Jesus explained his meaning: "I tell you the truth, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do.

Jesus teaches a simple parable with eternal consequence to a people who hadn’t let faith produce works in them.  For us to apply, we must simply recognize the value of expecting our faith to generate the fruit of works in our life.  If it is not then there is a problem that must be addressed.

Yield

Lord, I will grow in faith that produces works.

Extra Discovery

Read James 2:14-26.

Revelation

Works (good things we do for God’s glory) are the natural outflow of Obediently Serving God. That Obedient Service is the natural outflow of ‘Knowing’ God through Jesus and ‘Loving’ God and others.  If we do not have works then we must see what is wrong with our head (Knowing) or heart (Loving).  A course correction in that area will empower us to serve Jesus faithfully

3:16 Plan - Week 7 - Day 1 - Year 3 - Matthew 21:19-27, Mark 11:20-33, Luke 20:1-8

Walk in bold faith today and see God move the mountains in your life.

Matthew 21:21 - Jesus told them, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don't doubt, you can do things like this and much more.

The fig tree symbolized the nation of Israel who’s most important fruit was that of bearing the Messiah (Jesus).  Sadly, Israel’s leaders had spurned God for generations and much of its people where doing the same thing to Jesus.  Yes, faith in Christ would still produce mountain moving results for any who would believe.  There may be much spurning of genuine faith around you but don’t let that inhibit your own faith journey.

Yield

Lord, I will resolutely trust in You.

Extra Discovery

Read Hosea 9:10 and Jeremiah 24:5-8.

Revelation

Jesus Mends those who place genuine faith in Him as Lord and Savior as they repent from sin.  Without that Mending there will be no lasting fruit in your life.  He pronounced that in John 15 which we will get to in a few weeks.  Jesus only mends in response to faith and repentance.  Without it your life is like the fig tree…Marred…unable to produce the results you were created to produce.  Choose Christ and bear fruit!

3:16 Plan - Week 6 - Day 5 - Year 3 - John 12:20-50

Jesus quotes the prophet Isaiah’s truth that some won’t hear Him and His message for their own hardness of heart and mind has brought them to the place where God has even blinded them to His ways.  Pray we never even sniff that dark state.

Yield

Lord, I will choose to Know you more and more today.

Extra Discovery

Remember Matthew 5 when Jesus told us He was the light of the world and so are we?

Revelation

Jesus is the Light of the World.  That Light illuminates our understanding of who God is so that we can Know Him.  Our choice each day is to grow further into His light or to slink of into darkness in how we think or act.  The choice is clear for the follower of Christ.  We put our trust in Him and no longer remain in the dark (John 12:46).

3:16 Plan - Week 6 - Day 4 - Year 3 - Matthew 21:12-19, Mark 11:12-19, Luke 19:45-48

If convenience takes away your ability to worship it is sin.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Matthew 21:13 - "The Scriptures declare, 'My Temple will be called a house of prayer,' but you have turned it into a den of thieves!"

Convenience isn’t always sin but it can be if it is removing opportunities for you to worship and serve God.  This temple encounter is a good example of a fair idea (helping visiting worshippers get what they need with ease) that found the slippery slope of economic gain (selling materials at profit rather than letting the people gather them in preparation for sacrifice).  Let’s be sure we keep our hearts pure as it relates to God, money and gain.

Yield

Lord, I desire to keep worship untainted by commerce.  Help me.

Extra Discovery

https://www.gotquestions.org/temple-cleanse.html

Revelation

When Jesus cleansed this temple, the people hung on every word He spoke.  This is a key behavior for you no matter your state.  If you are Marred by Sin, choosing to cling to His Word is a step towards faith and repentance to be Mended.  If you have been Mended, hanging to God’s Word will equip you to serve Him joyfully and be filled/Morphed by the Spirit.  As a Morphed follower of Christ, hanging on the Word of God is what empowers you to have the right Mindset, Motivation and ultimately a great Ministry in your life.
