Even though the leaders of the day surmised that there could be a plot to say that Jesus was risen and thus took extra precaution to make sure that a hoax didn’t ensue, they learned that you can’t keep the God-man down.  No guard nor strength was going to be enough.  Yet, his closest companions mourned and followed burial rituals as if they had no hope.  When hope is scarce, trust the promises of God.

Yield

Lord, I will remain steadfast in hope.

Jesus’ human life was laid down as the sinless sacrifice for sin.  In these moments, hours and days that Jesus was in the tomb all hope seemed lost.  Just like in our own lives, there are times when we don’t see what God is doing until He does it!

Lord, I will put my own sin to death by surrendering myself fresh and new to You today.

Jesus hung on that middle cross with sinners on both sides of Him.  This is a great reminder of how He endured all the same things that we did yet without sin.  One of those men was a doubter and one was full of faith.  Which will you be?

Jesus is led towards the place of the skull where He would lay down His perfect life with humility so that we could be forgiven.  The nails are hammered into His hands and feet and yet He still prays for the forgiveness of His oppressors.  This is the heart of God and needs be our own heart…to forgive beyond anything natural is the supernatural love God has for us and has given us a charge to have for others.

Yield

Lord, I will live with forgiveness of those who hurt me.
