Confession - Romans 10:9-10

As it says in Romans 10:9-10, 'If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.'  Yes, our faith in Christ begins inward in our heart but it must go outward as we openly declare/confess His Lordship of our life.  The Christian life begins with the act of open declaration when you are baptized.  That is when you 'Go Public' with your faith.  It continues as you act as the 'expression' of God's Love for the world.  (1 John 4:12).

If we are unwilling to openly declare our faith in Christ then there is a fundamental problem with our faith.  That problem must be remedied. After all, Jesus taught us in Matthew 10:32-33 “So everyone who acknowledges Me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.”  Our faith should cause us to want to quickly and openly declare/confess what Jesus has done in His Life, Death & Resurrection and also what He has done in us through salvation.

Just as the man said in Acts 8:36 after he heard the Gospel...'As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?

Certainly, our confession must be more than just water baptism...but it certainly can't be less!
