We had a fabulous Celebration time last night at the Casper Events Center. As The Way grows we truly have so much to Celebrate. This Sunday we will be back at our home at 5pm. Bring a friend.
Now, please read Acts 5: 12-42.
We see that God was working in the lives of Jesus-followers just as He had thru Jesus. Signs and wonders were regularly done among the people by the hands of the apostles...and the people held them in high esteem. These men were living proof of the promise of John 10:10! But, as satisfying as an 'abundant life' is...not all of those who witnessed it responded positively.
But the high priest rose up, and all who were with him (that is, the party of the Sadducees), and filled with jealousy they arrested the apostles and put them in the public prison. Life without the hope and power Jesus provides will leave a person wishing they had that hope and power. They can respond well...by accepting Christ and being transformed...or they can respond with all-to-human tendencies.
We seek adventure and excitement in so many ways and yet here it is right in the middle of the Way of God. But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, “Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life.” And when they heard this, they entered the temple at daybreak and began to teach. The 'life worth living' doesn't always keep us from harm but does always keep us through harm. These disciples are delivered and given a mission...they couldn't wait to get busy living!
Has your life been on a destructive path? God offers a life worth living for all who follow Jesus and His Way.
Do you struggle with jealousy, power struggles, etc.? Rather than comparing yourself against other peoples successes you should keep a closer eye on your own life. If you are busy enough with what God is doing in you then you will change focus away from others.
One way to do this is to engage in the adventurous life that God has called us to - our Commission! Live dangerously and courageously for Jesus!
Have a great Monday. Keep warm if you can!
