Purpose

So, we strive to live with a Biblical Worldview - by the Bible we see everything else in this life.  Then we recognize our position as servants of God and strive to serve Him.  That leads us to our next commitment/statement along 'The Way':

God created me for His purposes not my desires.  Because of my brokenness, my desires tempt me.  But with God’s Spirit’s help I will override and overcome my desires and live every day to accomplish His will.

As a servant of God we believe that God gives us His purposes/plans.  Just as it says in Proverbs 16:9 'We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.'

But, just because we know God has a plan does not mean that we don't often prefer our own plans.  Our desires tempt us to go our own way and committ to our own plans instead of God's.  How do we choose His Plan over our desire?  We place our faith in His Plan over our desire!

Read 1 John 5:1-5 - 'Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Messiah has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him. This is how we know that we love God’s children when we love God and obey His commands. For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. Now His commands are not a burden, because whatever has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. And who is the one who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?'

Why would we put our faith in His Plan instead of our desire.  Think about it. How many times have you gone your own way and then gotten lost, hurt, etc.?  When you put your faith/trust in the pathway of God then you get to experience a pathway that leads to life.  One of the founding scriptures of our church is Proverbs 14:12 - 'There is a way that seems right to man but its end is death.'

Let us stop going our own way.  Let us stop heeding our own desires.  Let us live Biblically, as servants of God and His plan for us!
