Did you know that The Holy Spirit provides you Proof of Salvation?
Read 1 John 3:23-24 - And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.
Also, as Spiritual people we are commanded not to stifle/quench God's Spirit.
Read 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 - Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. Do not scoff at prophecies, but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good.
So, we shouldn't scoff at the work of The Holy Spirit nor should we accept things without testing them. What do we test them against? Against God's Word.
Read 1 John 4:1-3 - Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.
Instead of stifling the work of The Holy Spirit, we should be controlled by The Spirit.
Read Ephesians 5:15-19 - So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.
We can be controlled by many things but God has taught us to only allow Him/His Holy Spirit to control us. That is the key to living this new Spiritual Life as a Christian! What things can control you? Anger, Lust, physical addictions...
Just imagine your life if those things did not control you and instead you were controlled by God alone and by His Holy Spirit. Wow, that is my prayer for each of us.
