13 Days & Counting

The boxes continue to pile up at the Sims home as we prepare for our June 16 move to our new city - Casper, Wyoming.  This week we have what looks to be our final opportunity to direct a camp for the Independence Baptist Association.  Tuesday-Thursday we will have Day Camp with kids that have finished 1-3 grades.  The theme is Big God and the theme verse is from Isaiah 9:6

    [6] For to us a child is born,
        to us a son is given;
    and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
        and his name shall be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
        Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This is a prophecy about Jesus coming which was given to the Prophet Isaiah hundreds of years before Jesus was born.  It is a statement to the nature of God the Father, God the Son and God The Holy Spirit.  This is well known as 'The Trinity'.  The Everlasting Father (God The Father), the Prince of Peace (God the Son) and Wonderful Counselor (God the Holy Spirit).  Taken all together  they are The Mighty God.  This scripture is an incredibly strong declaration of The Trinity!  Together, it represents the Godhead which means the One True God who is The Trinity.

It is also a great picture of what we hope to share with our neighbors and friends in Casper.

  • In a world where it is confusing to know just who you should listen to - this verse proclaims that you need only one Wonderful Counselor.
  • In life we can feel so weak and defeated - but the God of scripture is The Mighty God and is strong even in our weakness.
  • Just when we can think that our lives are insignificant, worthless, too short - we can know that God is our Everlasting Father.
  • Is life filled with Chaos - I know the One who is the Prince of Peace and His Word promises peace that passes all understanding for those who rely upon Him.

Is the Big God of the Bible Big in your life?
