The Men of The Way have started getting together each month to fellowship and to build up each-other's faith as we learn to rely upon God, His Word and His Spirit. Our topic for our next gathering (February 21st at 9am) is being 'Led by The Spirit'. I will send out a few thoughts each Friday between now and then to get us all thinking, praying and studying on this topic. I would love to hear your feedback and study as well. (that goes for anyone...not just the men of The Way).
So, we are each 'Led' by something. Here are a couple of the big things that can lead us.
1. Emotions - My emotions can lead me to do something. On a good day, a good emotion could lead me to do something nice...but on that very same day, a bad emotion could lead me to do something horrible.
2. Persuasion - A good salesperson can persuade us to buy something we don't need. A persuasive person can convince you to act on something...that could be good or bad...depending on the heart of that person. At one time or another, I bet each of us can think of a time where we were persuaded to do something that we later regretted. It's not always a persuasive individual. It can be a persuasive advertisement, a persuasive cultural norm, etc.
3. Vice - Vice's and Addictions can serve like a flame for a moth. We can find ourselves short of the control that we need to resist poor choices because we have given control to whatever or whomever our addiction/vice is...
All 3 of those are powerful and each can have sway with your spirit...but none are as powerful as The Holy Spirit of God.
The LORD’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive. (Proverbs 20:27 NLT)
The first thing we must do to be led by God's Spirit is to allow He (and His Spirit) to penetrate our own spirit. Begin to pray about what that means. Start to study God's Word and topics on The Holy Spirit.
Have a great weekend. The Way will be gathering at 10:30am and 5pm at 1326 E. 24th St. in Casper. We are going to look at and learn from 'A Day in the Life of Jesus'. Can't wait!
