Crowded House

Wow, what a busy day for Jesus and His Disciples.  Teaching and casting out demons in the synagogue followed by healing in Peter's home...time for a nap eh?  Nope.

Sabbath would conclude at sunset on Saturday so all of the law keeping Jewish folks would be free to take a road trip.  Here's how it went:

That evening after sunset, many sick and demon-possessed people were brought to Jesus. The whole town gathered at the door to watch. So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons. But because the demons knew who he was, he did not allow them to speak.  Mark 1:32-34

News travelled fast in this fishing village of 1500 folks.  Good ministry begat 'MORE MINISTRY'.  The Compassion and Power of Jesus became famous and here came the crowds.  There is something for us to learn in that busy evening story: When we are following Jesus well we will be busy.  We might get tired.  Expect more and more opportunities to serve Him.  That is the life of a disciple.  That is the joy of a disciple.  Will you sleep good at night after a hard day of serving...probably so.

It was crowded.  I bet some of us have felt lost in the crowd before.  The bustle and hustle of our culture can leave people in its wake.  It is very normal to get lost and passed over in the workforce and even in relationships.  You might think that the same thing can happen when every person on the planet has a need that only God can supply...

The same story is in Luke 4:40-41 where we are told that Jesus touched each one that had a sickness.  Yes, it was crowded.  Yes, it was busy.  Yes, I am sure that Jesus and His disciples were exhausted.  No, Jesus didn't miss anyone!  He touched and healed each one who had come to Him.  We must come seeking Him and asking Him to act on our behalf and then we must trust that He knows our needs from our wants and will act upon His will for our life.

Yes, there are times where God's answer is No or Not Now but God will never skip over you because you got lost in the crowd.  He made you.  He loves you.  He knows your name.  He knows your address.  He won't leave you.  Trust in Him.  Go to Him.  Stay with Him.
