What tools do I have?


Do you ever have the feeling of 'I did not see that coming'. Something happens to you and you just don’t know how to overcome it. This affects your whole life from how you act at work, home and with yourself. You feel that you are such a failure and that there is no hope. You say to yourself man if only there was some peace in this. Your heart starts feeling heavy and you feel defeated and you are shaken to the very core. You feel like you are having an arm wrestling contest with the Incredible Hulk and you are on the back foot before you ever started and you have no idea how to change the tables around.  

This my friend is the work of your enemy (the devil) and when you are at this point he is saying whee whee whee all the way home. He is crying victory. This is a tough spot to be in as he will just keep hitting you where it hurts with absolutely no mercy trying to break you in every way he can.

So what do you do? How can you prevent this? 

This brings us to the first part of our battle “tools” that is provided to every believer.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore,  having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. Ephesians 6:13-15 

Our gracious father gives us these battle tools so that we not only can fight this battle in His name but also restore what has been lost.

The belt of truth: This is the first part of your armor and also the foundation on what you can stand on when nothing else makes sense and days look dark. The belt of truth is made up of your identity in Christ and who you are in Him. When that blow comes remember who your Father is! Jesus say’s He is the way the truth and the life. John 14: 6 Stand firm on this foundation.

The next “tool” The Breastplate of Righteousness: God gives you to keep the enemy from getting to your command center the Heart! When your heart is damaged you cannot function at 100%. This piece of the armor keep you from getting that dark spot on your heart that just lays heavy and get you to feel like there is no hope. With the breastplate on Satan have no entryway to your heart when you put this on it not only heals the wounds that have been left there but you also prevent that from happening again. This allows you to fill your heart with the good news that will flow to all parts of who you are. Luke 6:45b says, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

When in war you walk long distances a foot soldier need good shoes to keep him from slipping as he fights of the enemy.  

“as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.” This is an awesome piece of the armor God provided us. As we walk this life here on earth with lots of things that comes in your path that will try to get you to lose ground and get this anxious feeling 

 that everything is slipping out of control. You have the Gospel of peace knowing that Jesus said in John 16:33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

With this sandals of peace you or not only able to bring hope to your own situation but also to everyone that you come in contact with.
