It has been a great week of devotional thoughts from Johannes. The below writing is a great way to wrap it up!
You are now looking like a soldier but there is a huge difference in looking like a soldier and being one.
This makes me think of this clip.
Now that you are all dressed and ready for battle it is time to get up and fight! In order to defend something you have to believe in it. To be a good soldier you have to be familiar with your armor and your enemy so by studying what we discussed this week it will help you get there. Trust me, the battle is raging but all you have to do is step in the battle field with a bold confidence in Jesus Christ and the power of His might.
But one thing is missing before you can go to battle. You have to activate the armor. How do you do that?
praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, (Ephesians 6:18 ESV)
Prayer is where the battle is won! To activate the armor and be able to use it you have to show your dependence on God the Father. What kind of prayer is required? Pray in the Spirit. This means devoted time with only you and God. Uninterrupted time in conversation to the Holy King on your knees crying out to Him out of reverence for who He is. This is where the battle is won.
Again we can follow Jesus’s example Hebrews 5: 7 which tells us that while on earth Jesus offered up prayers out of His reverence for the Father.
Jim Cymbala – “The devil is not terribly frightened of our human efforts and credentials. But he knows his kingdom will be damaged when we begin to lift up our hearts to God.”
A.J. Gordon – “You can do more than pray, after you have prayed, but you can never do more than pray until you have prayed.”
Prayer is coming to the Father as a weak soldier and asking Him to strengthen you and work through you with His perfect love. By praying, you get a direct connection with Jesus Christ. He fills you, equips you and sends you with His mighty power. Prayer activates the plan of God! Walking in with nothing and walking out with everything!
Without prayer you are just a man in dressed up clothes that have no effect.
Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! (1 Chronicles 16:11 ESV)
Now let’s go fight this victorious battle in Jesus name!!
