Helper or Hinderer

What is the role of a Christ-Follower in helping others get to Jesus?  Look into verses 13-14 below:

[13] And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. [14] But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. [15] Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” [16] And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. Mark 10:13-16

One group of people are bringing children (even infants) to Jesus.  They are helping them get to The Lord.  The other group is rebuking them for trying to get to Jesus.  Jesus settles the debate by saying 'Let the children come to me; do not hinder them.'

The role of the Christ-Follower is to be a helper in the journey of others.  Not to help them in just any path but to help them come to Christ.  This is the singular focus of the Great Commission God has given us as His children.

How could we be a hindrance to this?  Our attitude and apathy can turn people away from God.  Our actions or lack of actions (laziness) can turn people away from God. Let us be a child of God who helps with our attitude and actions.  Let us gain a reputation for being a person that others know will help them get to God.  If we are, we will find ourselves getting many opportunities to do so!
