Children have a special way of entering places. The way a child enters your bedroom at night is distinctly different than how an adult does so. Especially after a bad dream, you see a dependence that will rarely cause you to turn them away. In this week’s Bible text we see that we have a need to be child-like when it comes to The Kingdom of God:
And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. Mark 10:13-16
How do we receive God & His Kingdom like a Child?
We trust God. We depend on God. We expect to see God. We expect to be received by God. We invite others to God. We keep learning about God. We trust God to help us back up when we have fallen.
These are all things that you can see fairly naturally in how a child deals with a loving parent. We have the ultimate loving parent in God The Father. Let’s approach Him like a child and receive all that He has planned for us in this life, His Kingdom & Eternity.
