To end our devotions from Mark 10:46-52 lets look at that final verse:
And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way. (Mark 10:52 ESV)
So Jesus comes along this road. This road had been the ‘way’ for this man for a long time. He likely traveled it daily to set up and beg. Jesus changes the man’s life with a miraculous healing and then tells him to ‘go his way’. Most of us would think that his way would have been back to Jericho. Most of us think that his way would have been something that he had been dreaming to do if he ever regained his sight.
However, the text teaches us that once he had recovered his sight that He followed Jesus ‘on the way’. Wow. His first faith step was to trust Jesus for healing. His second faith step was to trust Jesus to follow Him. This speaks to me. Which way did he go? Whatever way that Jesus went. We shall see next week that this way included a trip to Jerusalem that would eventually lead to the Cross. Could it be that this man, who was once blind, was able to see the love of God expressed through the sacrificial and substitutionary death of Jesus on the Cross? Amazing!
When Jesus says ‘go your way’, which way do you go?
