This song brings about strong emotive responses.  It is a wonderful collection of lyrics, however, very few people know what they are singing.  Hosanna is not a word used much in today’s english.  Hosanna means ‘Save Us’ or even ‘Save Us Now’.  It is a proclamation to a King.  It is a prayer of ‘Help’.  One day, as Jesus entered into the city where He would bring salvation to us, the people cried out:

[7] And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. [8] And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. [9] And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! [10] Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!” (Mark 11:7-10 ESV)

Salvation!  Because Jesus - God The Son - came to Jerusalem and laid down His perfect life for you, you can now call out on Him to ‘Save You Now’.  When you call upon Him to save you He is faithful and just to do so.  Have you done so?  During this most wonderful time of the year when we celebrate His birth, it would be a fabulous gift to receive.  Call out Hosanna to the one who can and will save.

Saved!  Because of what Jesus did on the Cross, I can now call out in Celebration ‘He Saved Me Then’!  I can do this only because I have a point in my history where I realized my utter need of a Savior.  I heard the Bible Account of the life, death and resurrection of Christ and believed it.  I heard the Bible Account that charged me guilty of Sin and I knew it to be true so I confessed that sin and asked for God’s Forgiveness through Jesus.  I asked Jesus to save me and asked Him to become The Lord of my life.  From then until now, I celebrate a victorious life because ‘He Saved Me Then’.  What a gift!  What a Savior.  If you have been saved by Him then call out Hosanna with a grateful heart today!
