A long time ago, in a Galilee far, far away...

Hundreds of years before Christ was sent to earth on His saving mission for you and me, the prophet Isaiah was given this Word from God:

[1]  But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. (2) The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. (Isaiah 9:1-2 ESV)

Here foresaw (by The Holy Spirit) a time that God would bring reconciliation to the earth.  It would be through the ‘coming’ of a Savior.  Coming…in latin, the word would be ‘Advent’.  We now look back and see that this prophetic glimpse was fulfilled in the Advent of Jesus Christ - The Savior, The Messiah, God The Son.  This week we celebrate Christmas which is our modern holiday for that ancient and glorious happening.  When Jesus fulfilled this promise (and many others) He brought the ultimate gift of Salvation to man.  With that salvation we see four fabulous gifts for us to receive from God’s great light!

Gift #1 - Hope - Tuesday we will look at the Hope we have in Christ and His Coming.

Gift #2 - Joy - Wednesday we celebrate the joy of Christ and His Coming

Gift #3 - Peace - on Christmas Eve (Thursday) we will see that God’s Peace is given thru the Coming of Jesus.

Gift #4 - Love - On Friday, Christmas Day, we will see that ultimately the Christmas gift of Jesus is a full expression of the love of God - for you!

As you celebrate the Christmas of 2015, what gift do you most need from God?  Now, what gift of these does the world around you need most?  How might you express it?
