Mark 1:41 - The Touch of God

Jesus often healed with a Word.  Other times He healed from a distance.  How would He respond to this leper who sought Him out and requested His will?  How would He handle the situation with a man who had not been touched for who knows how long and to whom it was against the law to even be near enough to others to be touched?  Read it:

Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” (‭Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭41‬ NLT)

Jesus let the man know His Will by more than just commanding the leprosy to be gone.  He let this leper know that The Will of God was full of compassion for him.  He not only healed Him (by the Word) but He touched Him (by the Action).

Maybe you have heard stories of babies dying because they were withheld from physical touch so they did not thrive.  Maybe you have seen or heard of marriage's breaking up because the couple drifted away from one another and did not show affection.  Physical touch communicates so much.

Today, this powerful text communicates to you and I that God's love for us is compassionate, personal and intimate.  We are not viewed as drudgery to our Savior.  We are His.  If you do not yet follow Jesus then I can tell you this: You have never known a love like that.  Don't believe me?  Come to Jesus and allow Him to touch your life.  You'll never be the same again.  This leper did and I'm certain he didn't regret it!
