It’s true! The God of the Universe, The Creator of all things, the Almighty One - He knows YOU by name! God is not an impersonal deity that began the world and then left it to its own devices. He is a God of relationship. Just look at the scriptures that show a personal and ongoing fellowship between Father, Son and Spirit.
Read the list of men that Jesus knew by name and called by name:
Afterward Jesus went up on a mountain and called out the ones he wanted to go with him. And they came to him. Then he appointed twelve of them and called them his apostles. They were to accompany him, and he would send them out to preach, giving them authority to cast out demons. These are the twelve he chose: Simon (whom he named Peter), James and John (the sons of Zebedee, but Jesus nicknamed them "Sons of Thunder”*), Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew,Thomas, James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, Simon (the zealot*), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him). Mark 3:13-19
These folks were not the callous religious leaders who resisted and even plotted against The Lord. Neither were they the seemingly faceless crowd who only gathered around The Messiah because He was multiplying loaves and fishes. These men were known by God’s Son Jesus by name.
It wasn’t because they were especially gifted or talented. It wasn’t because of their wealth or notoriety. It wasn’t a rash decision from Jesus (read Luke 6:12 to see that Jesus prayed all night before calling them).
The truth is that you and I can’t do anything to be known by God. He has known you since the forever…here are a few examples from The Word:
Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.”
Ephesians 1:4 - “Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.”
So, if you can’t do anything to ensure He knows you, what can you do?
You can listen for His voice. He calls you and since He knows you His call is a good one. Accept it and Go!
Get to know Him. Just because He knows you that does not guarantee that you know Him. Spend time in God’s Word and in prayer so you get to know the One who knows your name.
Rest in the security of knowing that He knows you. He always has…
