Joy Via Faith

Now, you have spent the week surveying the mounting evidence of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. You have seen the evidence of transformation, sacrifice and the Scriptures.  That evidence is only for the purpose of building up your faith.  That faith in Christ will bring joy to you.

We seek out joy and/or happiness above most all else in this world.  We desire it so much we are willing to experiment with most anything to get a taste of it (both good and bad).  The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to a church in Philippi and one of the main focuses of it was being joyful.  In it, he wrote the below text that was the topic of our Easter Message at The Way last Sunday:

God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead! (Philippians 3:9b-11 NLT)

Looking at this text in three parts we see that the key to joy starts with a pure faith.  Faith in what though?

FIND JOY THROUGH FAITH IN THE PERFECT AND SINLESS LIFE OF JESUS.

The text says 'I want to know Christ’.  Intimate Knowledge & Fellowship with Jesus shows us the pathWay to life! Placing your faith in and remembering Jesus past can give you a new perspective on your own past.  It may even cause you to forget some things that the enemy uses to hold you back!

FIND JOY THROUGH FAITH IN THE SUBSTITUTIONARY & SACRIFICIAL DEATH OF JESUS.

The text says 'I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,’. To share in The Cross is to receive the forgiveness it offers. To suffer alongside the Savior is to identify as one of His. To remember what He did for you is to know perfect love.

FIND JOY THROUGH FAITH IN THE POWERFUL & DIVINE RESURRECTION OF JESUS.

The text says '…and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead…so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!’ The Empty Tomb proves the Divinity of Christ!  No man rises from the dead unless God lifts Him up or unless He Himself is God.  Jesus claimed to be God and then proved it in the resurrection.  That Victory won over death is our Hope for Eternity! The same power that delivered our Savior is our Source of Daily Life!

Where does your faith rest?  Is it in you and what you can do?  Is it in your checkbook or checklist?  If you are ready to find the joy of living a life following Jesus then rest your faith upon the Risen Jesus.
