In the healing of the blind man in our Bible text this week (Mark 8:21-26) we see that Jesus touches him once and the man doesn’t regain full and clear sight. Then Jesus touches him again and he is restored.
Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Mark 8:25 ESV
The man clearly needed to be touched again by The Lord…but not because the potency of Jesus’ touch wasn’t enough the first time. No, the man got a double-shot from Jesus for some other reason…possibly his own faith or the callousness of the area. There are times where we need a double-shot of God’s Blessings to get us through our day or our situation. In those times I have no doubt that God will supply all you need.
There are other times when we just get back in line for another blessing when we have received all that we need already. That reminds me of this little minion video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC_gjrbULGA - It is a double-dip when we have all we need. Here is the neat thing. When our hearts are right and we just desire more of The Lord then He is glad to give. However, when we want to cut in line or get someone else’s blessing then we need to check our priorities.
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you needed a double-shot of The Lord to see you through? Are there areas in your life where you are trying to double-dip and you don’t need to?
