Straight Talk

And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. And He said this plainly. Mark 8:31-32

Sometimes I don’t hear well.  This isn’t always a volume issue but it is sometimes a clarity issue.  The clarity problem is either on the side of the hearer (me), the side of the speaker…or both.  At times, the people talking to us do not speak plain enough to send a clear message.  At other times we can be given a clear message but miss it for a variety of reasons (hearing only what we want to hear…distractions…etc.).  I’m thankful for the Straight Talk of Jesus.

He has just given Peter ‘the rest of the story’.  Not only was He ‘the Messiah’ as Peter had professed…but He was the ‘Suffering Servant’ prophesied in many Old Testament passages like Isaiah 53.  Jesus was very clear and direct on this issue and Peter heard it…for the first time.  He didn’t want to hear it but he did.  I’m thankful that Jesus spoke clearly on this and so many other issues.  The Bible is full of ’Straight Talk’ from Jesus.  Dig into it and let The Word of God speak clearly and plainly to you.

Do you hear God as plainly as He speaks or do you miss much due to distraction or some other reason?  If you are struggling to hear from God it won’t be a an issue with the speaker…it will be a reception issue.  Cut out the background noise and hear Him plainly today.
