Can't Never Could

After Jesus' followers were unable to heal the boy, the father brought Him directly to Jesus:

And they brought the boy to him. And when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”” Mark 9:20-24

Many of us would quit or give up when a failure had occurred like this one where Jesus' followers were unable to deliver this young man from this powerful spirit.  We would assume that it just can't be done.  Can't never could.

Many of us might look at the symptoms of this child and say they are too severe.  We might say that he can't be healed of this dreadful problem.  Can't never could.

Many of us question God/Jesus and His Power because we compare Him with what we see in front of us.  Saying 'If you can' much like saying 'I'm afraid you can't'.  Can't never could.

Unbelief is a deal killer in the spiritual life.  Faithlessness is not just status quo but it is backwards momentum.  It is faith that pleases God and it is faith that grows us in Him.  Our God is greater!  Greater than man, symptoms, doubts and fears.  Do you have a habit of using 'can't' in your life?  It is a negative word that you should consider eliminating from your vocabulary...especially when addressing God.  All things are possible for one who believes!
