Just a few thankful thoughts to end our week this Friday. Just over two years ago my family was praying about moving to Casper to begin a new Church. Our hope and prayer was to reach people in the Casper area who were far from God and not a part of any church community in the area. We had been told that 9 out of 10 people in Casper were not a part of a local church so we assumed that most of those were not Christians and didn’t have a background in the faith.
As exciting as the idea was, we didn’t want to do this alone. We prayed that God would send us with a team of people. We assumed God would answer this prayer by sending other people with us that we already knew. We didn’t know what to think when we moved to Casper alone and without any of the team we expected. However, after a year in Casper, we see that God’s faithfulness should not be questioned. He was answering the prayer before we ever packed a bag. He did so in several ways:
1. He sent other families that loved Jesus that were from elsewhere. Missouri, New Mexico, etc. God was drawing others here to be a part of WindCity. They had no idea. We had no idea. God had more than an idea. I’m thankful to God for that!
2. He brought other families that had settled in Casper but were not yet part of a church here. God had families here in Casper ready to grow and serve. Over the months, they were drawn to WCC. I’m thankful to God for that!
3. He had people here in Casper that were ready to re-start the discipleship process. Many people have an internal faith in Christ but (for whatever reason) have not continued on with a church community and even have slowed or stopped their growth (discipleship). I see families today that were not part of a church a year ago but are not serving and leading and they are part of the team we prayed for…I’m thankful for that!
With gratitude to God for sending and drawing you…and thanksgiving for your willingness to be a part of this thing we call WindCity Church…I share this Word from Paul:
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace. Philippians 1:3-7
There are still many, many more that God would have us reach and love and serve here in the Casper Metro. Let us enjoy serving together. Let us grow together in Grace and the Love of Christ. Let us reach out to our neighbors and invite them to be our guest in the journey of faith. I’m thankful for each day we get to do that!
