Rendered Full

I don’t always like to share…especially food.  I’m worried about scarcity.  If i’m hungry then I believe I need my entire meal.  We sometimes are afraid to give things up because we feel we won’t have enough or we will run short of something that is needed.

Spiritually speaking this is also true.  We see our spiritual life thru a finite lens and are afraid we will put all our energy in one place and have nothing left.  This can cause us to be too measured on something that we are commanded to be liberal with…

Note Jesus’ command in this week’s text:

And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, to trap him in his talk. And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone's opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?” But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why put me to the test? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” And they brought one. And he said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” They said to him, “Caesar's.” Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” And they marveled at him. (Mark 12:13-17 ESV)

Render to God the things that are His.  Jesus is reminding us that our life is not our own and that it belongs to our Master.  Jesus became our Master when we committed our life to Him and gained eternal salvation.  Yet, we are afraid to Render ‘it all’ to Him and find ourselves empty.  We think that could leave us bankrupt in life…possibly even joyless or bored.

What if I told you that rendering your life to God fully is the key to the abundant and full life that Jesus has promised you?  What if I told you that you will feel more bankrupt, bored and empty by with-holding your life from God?  Well, that’s the point today.  If you will give your all to Him then He will render back to you the fulfillment of that ‘abundant life’ promise.

Today, consider what part or parts of your life have been withheld from God and pray about the steps to take to be Rendered Full!
