Great Word from Johannes today!
People go through life trying to do everything right. People look at followers of Christ and especially pastors through a magnifying glass trying to see when and how they will mess up. Let me tell you for some people the pressure gets very real...the pressure of having to live the perfect life.
In today’s text we see how Jesus predicted that one of his boldest followers will mess up.
Peter said to him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” But he said emphatically, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And they all said the same. (Mark 14:29-31 ESV)
This is a classical display of mine and your life. Jesus the Almighty King and the sovereign Lord tells Peter that he is going to mess up. Peter responds by “Me? Never Lord I will follow you to death” do you think Jesus did not know exactly what was going to happen? Peter is seen here arguing something that he really did not have control over.
Your mess up did not catch Jesus by surprise. Notice He never said because you messed up I will no longer love you. Jesus knew that this step was needed to get Peter to the point where he would ultimately die for Him. Hard times get us closer to Jesus. Peter grew because of this situation and walked away bolder than ever. God’s Grace is sufficient for every situation.
So instead of doing what Peter did after his denial and pouting because of what he had done I challenge you to do this.
Instead of saying why am I going through this ask yourself how can I glorify God through this.
Remember your mess up does not come as a surprise to Jesus and He is working on a way bigger plan than what you can see. God can use your mess up’s for His Glory!
God sees what we don’t!
