This week we will look at the problems that come with living in fear as well as see a few biblical cures on how to overcome a life ruled by fear.
First, fear is looking at the future (which is always uncertain) and expecting a poor outcome. It usually deals with expecting danger or pain. So, in many ways, fear is exactly the opposite of hope. Hope is looking towards the future and expecting positive results.
Fear is exhausting. More than almost any attribute, people who live in fear live tired. Sadly, they also do not rest well. They fear, fret and worry to the point that they struggle to do what they want to do and then they get to the end of the day and they remain unable to rest so they worry some more.
Therefore, the Promise of God to start our week with will be:
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6
Are you a fearful person? That is expending energy that should be committed elsewhere. For one, you can commit that energy to prayer. That thing that causes you fear is something that Holy God knows about. Ask Him to do something about it.
Rather than 'fear exhaustion', exhaust your energies on something purposeful this week...like sharing the Light of Christ with someone.
