The Bridge of Forgiveness

Living in Unforgiveness is the equivalent of burning a bridge that you will one day need to walk over.

Forgiveness from God to you through Jesus is gained by you being a follower of Jesus. A follower of Jesus is committed to love like Jesus did (John 13:35 & 15:12-13). Jesus forgave you while you were still a sinner (Romans 5). He also taught us in Matthew 6:12-15:

12 and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. 13 And don't let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one. 14 "If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Two takeaways:

1. We prove our 'followership' of Jesus by Forgiving the way He forgives us.

2. We receive Forgiveness of Christ as we forgive others.

To whom much is given, much is required. I have been forgiven much therefore I choose to forgive much! I will need to receive forgiveness from God and from others in my life even in spite of best efforts to do right therefore I will model the forgiveness I desire by the forgiveness I give.
