3:16 Plan - Day 3 - Week 3 - Year 1 - Genesis 25-26

Our desires, impulses and emotions can lead us into dire consequences when, with God’s help, we should be leading them instead.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Psalm 119: 33 Teach me your decrees, O LORD; I will keep them to the end. 34 Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. 35 Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. 37 Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word.

Lord, don’t let me be led astray by my pursuits that aren’t in line with You.

Abraham’s life of faith ends and, as grief often does, his two sons come together to bury him even though they were bitter enemies.  Consider what they must have overcome to do this thing and ask yourself if there are things you need to overcome in relationships to be honoring to God…

In the lineage of Ishmael we see a great nation built that, amongst many other things, would bring forth the spiritual nation of Islam.  Mohammed himself would trace his heritage all the way back to this exiled son of Abraham.  If Abraham could see the opposition and war that Islam has brought to his promised people (Israel) and his promised salvation (Jesus) do you think he would reconsider sleeping with his wife’s servant?

Esau had contempt for God & His Father’s Gift.  How does this change his opportunities and future life?  Keep reading to see!  It’s not good…

God’s blessings of Isaac proved to be material in nature (herds, flocks, land, etc.).  At times, God may bless us in this way but we need not expect only material blessings nor interpret every scriptural promise as a means to material gain.  What blessings do you count most?

Lord, help me not to give away your blessings to simply feed my appetite.
