Can we trust God to fulfill His Promises?
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Lord, I do not want to wander in the wilderness away from your precious promises so help me to dwell in You and Your word.
Genesis 21-22 - https://www.blueletterbible.org/tools/MultiVerse.cfm?s=00088E
God brings the child of promise into the world in a very supernatural way and now you see God's plan and man's alternative attempting to live together in the same camp. It doesn't work well. God doesn't share in this way. Let us consider how to be more exclusive in our covenant to Him.
The near sacrifice of the child of promise would demonstrate several things:
- We must not cling so tightly to God's promise that we miss God Himself.
- God will provide for our every sacrifice when we obey Him perfectly...even if that requires more than we would have thought possible for us to give.
- Isaac is a fabulous fore-shadowing of Jesus The Messiah.
Lord let me accept the sacrifice of Jesus fully...recognizing that it keeps me from being the one at the altar.
Mt. Moriah would later be a mountain that many Israelites would worship God and would even play a vital role in the life of Christ.
God makes a way. Abraham's offering shows us the great love of God The Father who gave the life of a God The Son so we might be mended by Christ and Know Him!
