3:16 Plan - Day 3 - Year 1 - Genesis 5-6

God’s grace provides safety from any flood in this life!

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Psalm 119:17-23 - 17 Be good to your servant, that I may live and obey your word. 18 Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions. 20 I am always overwhelmed with a desire for your regulations. 21 You rebuke the arrogant; those who wander from your commands are cursed. 24 Your laws please me; they give me wise advice.

Lord , I trust your goodness. Give me insight as I meditate on Your Word?

Read - Genesis 5-6

In chapter 6 we are introduced to the 'Sons of God'. Who are they? Truly, only The Lord knows for certain but here is your pastors view:

Seth was the new child of Adam that God would use to multiply peoples on the earth. Unlike Cain who killed Abel...Seth chose God's Way. I think that his family is referred to as the ’sons of God’.  I believe Cain's family line is what is referred to as the 'Daughters of men’.

Was The Lord shortening lifespans from what Adam experienced because the curse of sin was wreaking havoc on Man and creation the longer they lived? Could these long living generations help explain some of the fossil records that non-Christian scientists prescribe as evolving creatures?

As we hear the Lord's heart break over sin we must consider the weight of our own personal sin and repent for what it causes Him. Consider the obedience of Noah in this 'Big Ask' of God. What did he have to give up and change to follow The Lord?

Here we see a downward slide of man...falling into his own godless ways. Seek The Holy Spirit’s guidance to resist that downward slide. Come to terms that the God of love we serve is also the God of judgment we revere.

Extra Discovery

The ancient Jewish philosopher named Josephus (not a Christian) held that Adam and Eve had 33 sons and 23 daughters. It's easy to imagine the great population explosion when you consider that type of fruitfulness.

Like yesterday's reading, we see the black triangle of Marred by Sin. We also see God developing additional Makings as He re-orients man's time on earth.  We see a clear lack of knowledge of God in all but Enoch and soon in Noah. Man's love and service is divided away from The Lord.
