3:16 Plan - Day 4 - Year 1 - Genesis 7-8

To receive God's grace we often must listen for His guidance and follow.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Psalm 119:25-32 -25 I lie in the dust; revive me by Your Word. Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds. I weep with sorrow; encourage me by your word. Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations. I cling to your laws. Lord, don't let me be put to shame! I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding.

Read - Genesis 7-8

Which would be more difficult:

Building the ark

Getting your kids on it

Rounding up the animals

When we see others suffer what emotions do we feel? In this text, what could Noah and his family have done? Read 2 Peter 2:5 for a clue on what they actually did. How can that apply to us?

The land was cleansed of its evil over a period of almost a year. How might God still use time to cleanse us?

After all the time on the boat, God tells Noah to leave it. Might this have been hard? Why? What can inhibit us from obeying?

The promise of Gen 8:22 is a great verse to remember and may give us great comfort in today's questions on climate and environment.

To God's plan so that we can experience His gracious salvation.

Extra Discovery

Some of the animals were provided in quantity of seven pairs instead of two so that there were enough to sacrifice. Some think sacrifices to God where only instituted with the law but this is many generations before that.

This text is a pre-cursor/picture of triangle number 3 (Mended by Christ). Although we don't see Jesus explicitly, we do see God's grace displayed to sinful man.
