Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
1 Kings 8:23 : O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in all of heaven above or on the earth below.
Read - 1 Kings 8:22-53, 2 Chronicles 6:12-42
Solomon prays with boldness! He asks God to remember all of His promises to the nation of Israel. He asks God to be attentive to their needs and to be ready to forgive…even when they have fallen away…if/when they repent. This is bold but it is also what God Himself desires. When God’s people draw near to Him, He will draw near to them!
Lord, I will remember the value of personal repentance when I have sinned.
This is a great devotional thought in regard to Solomon’s prayer in this text:
God’s presence joined the nation. That Ark/Law represented the way we come to Know Him and receive the Light of His Word. His very real presence was a reminder of His desire for a relationship with them…a relationship based upon Love. Now, the nation begs for God to act with grace and mercy to them. They are asking God to be ready to guard their lives when they fall and forgive them when they repent. The Light, Love and Life God has for us now was available to these ‘Temple Age’ Israelites too!
