3:16 Plan - Week 38 - Day 4 - Year 1 - 1 Kings 9:1-9, 2 Chronicles 7:11-22

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

2 Chronicles 7:14 : Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

Read - 1 Kings 9:1-9, 2 Chronicles 7:11-22

God visits to Solomon and delivers a vital message.  Solomon learns that he has the opportunity to live and lead the nation in obedience to God.  If he (and they) follow God then they will see all the blessings of being the covenant people of God.  However, if he (and they) do not follow God then they will be uprooted from the land.  They will lose the temple that has just been built.  This is a warning of the consequences of sin…even for God’s chosen people.  Even for the Christ-follower.  We are called to Obey.

Lord, I will desire to honor You and Obey You.

Extra Discovery

A very interesting insight on 2 Chronicles 7:14:

Obey and be blessed.  Fall away and suffer the consequence.  Israel was adopted by God.  They were his…and they would remain his even after proving incapable of living a life of obedience.  However, they would live through many pains as they would fall away time and again.  They would lose their land just like Adam and Eve lost the Garden of Eden (The Farm).  They would lose their closeness to God by being separated from the Temple and place of Worship. Thank God that He is gracious.  His promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is a gift of grace to Israel.  It is a promise that He doesn’t move and that if they will repent He will respond.  Israel was often Misled by the Enemy but always God proved faithful to deliver them when they humbled themselves and prayed!
