Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 82:1 : God presides over heaven's court; he pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings.
Read - Psalm 82, 83
Psalm 82 reminds us of the social reality of our Gospel. However, we don’t begin by trying to fix the social nor is that our primary goal. We invest into the spiritual vitality of those whom we influence. We seek to see how we can show the love of Christ to them. We meet the needs the Holy Spirit makes evident. We trust that as we care for these real social needs in our midst that God will work through us to open hearts to receive the Gospel!
Lord, I want to see the social, emotional and spiritual injustices healed and delivered!
Psalm 82 is also a prophetic glimpse. Some believe it is the war described in the end-times prophecies of Daniel. Others feel it could be a specific war including specific countries in existence today. Either way, God is on the throne!
How can a just God allow injustice to affect the misfortunate? Does He simply not see or hear? Is He ignoring the plight of humanity? Or, is God well aware of the brokenness of humanity? Did He warn His creation of the curse and cost of Sin way back in Genesis 3? Is what we are seeing simply the true consequence of abandoning God’s will for our own? If this is true, as I believe it is, then sin should get the blame rather than the only Being on the planet who does not sin.
