Read - Proverbs 24

The word ‘Future’ is mentioned and alluded to several times in this powerful Proverb.  Some people spend their time in the past.  Others live in today and find that it is a gift (the present).  Certainly, there are powerful things we can learn from our past and certainly we must enjoy this present time.  However, God calls us to be a forward-looking people.  Hope is the word from The Word to call us into the future…a future where we expect the ultimate positive outcome - Victory.  The truly wise will look to the future with hope and expectancy because they have studied what God has promised - Victory!

Lord, I will find my strength in You and You alone.

Extra Discovery

Wisdom can change our future and make it bright (Verse 14).  Read Jeremiah 29:11 to consider God’s thoughts toward the future of this nation that Solomon was leading…even when they had rebelled.

If you fail under pressure then your strength is too small.  At first glance, this seems to reveal that God doesn’t use the weak.  Yet over and over the Scriptures teach a different narrative.  God empowers the weak.  God shows His strength in our weaknesses.  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.  What are we to say to this Proverb?  When pressures rise our true nature is exposed.  We learn if we are finding our strength in Christ or if it is a human born power that is limited and finite.  God strengthens us with wisdom and power when we surrender to Him.  This is the ultimate gift of His Mending and Morphing…strength like no other source can even imagine.  Strength that endures the trial and storm.  Has your strength proven small in the time of pressure?  Find new strength in a new relationship with the One who makes you a New Creation.
