To finish is better than to start…yet we must start before we can ever consider finishing anything. Our culture doesn’t like to finish well. Divorce is rampant. Relationships come and go. Even allegiance to a sports team can be fickle. The Wisdom of Scripture teaches us to consider the end of a thing even before it begins. This is true for our life as well. Legacy…Progeny…how is your today influencing ‘that day’ and after?
Lord, help me to enjoy the life you have given me in spite of any pain or pressure.
In this last verse of this book of wisdom is a conclusion speaking of judgement for everyone. Revelation 20 gives a clear picture of what this is referring to…
Solomon says ‘nobody knows whether God will show them favor’ in Chapter 9:1. It is certainly true that we do not know what God will do with our actions and behaviors. However, this is also a limited and faithless view of God without the hope and promise of our Mending in Christ. Favor is closely related to grace in the Bible. Those who have received Jesus as their Savior are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9). They know the favor of God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), but those who have saving faith in God’s Son are declared righteous (Romans 4:5; Philippians 3:9) and live in God’s favor. The most basic answer to “can I get God’s favor” is “believe in the Lord Jesus.” lavishes gifts upon us and His very wisdom is one of them. Will you walk in it?
