Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Proverbs 14:21 - It is a sin to belittle one's neighbor.
Read - Proverbs 14-17
Wisdom is a virtue that changes behavior. Chapter 14 is full of wise choices in regard to others including those who are poor or needy. Chapter 15 helps us know how wisdom will change our speech especially when we are in crucial conversations. Chapter 16 guides us to God’s plans rather than our own. Chapter 17 helps us to deal with conflict by making choices that wisely improve relationships.
Lord, may your wisdom guide my relationships and keep me on the path that is right.
Psalm 141 gives a wise prayer for those of us who may struggle to keep guard on our own mouth in times of conflict: ‘Set a guard over my mouth Lord’.
Proverbs 17:9 says ‘Love prosers when a fault is forgiven’. This is a gospel-centered thought! Similar to the New Testament Truth that ‘Love covers a multitude of sins and casts out fear’ in 1 John 4. This is ultimately the work of the Mending of the Cross of Christ healing the wound of the Marring of Sin. It is a benefit of the attribute of God’s Loving Character. His heart is that we desire in relationship with Him and with one-another and he has forgiven our faults through Christ when the blood was shed on the cross for those who follow Him as Savior and Lord. Is Love prospering in your life or are the many faults (yours or another whom you are observing) keeping you caught in a world of division and deceit?
