Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Proverbs 18:10 - The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The godly run to Him and are safe.
Read - Proverbs 18-22:16
Avoiding fighting and quarreling is mentioned multiple times in today’s readying. Just as Jesus had many opportunities to quarrel with His enemies, He instead relied upon reason and common sense to speak truth in love to those who opposed Him. This is a blueprint for being a person of honor and integrity. Rather than seeking out the opportunity to be right look for ways to bring the temperature down. Rather than finding ‘dead air’ to spout your opinion, seek to understand before you are understood. Rather than debating for the win, find ways to build relational bridges whereby the gospel can travel.
Lord, help me to wait on You and be directed by You even when the stakes are high.
Proverbs 18:24 is often used to describe Jesus’ friendship as He speaks about it in John 15:12-16.
Proverbs 21:2 teaches us that we can seem right ‘in our own eyes’ but still be ‘dead wrong’ according to our Creator. How do we solve the riddle of knowing our heart? If we will simply focus more upon knowing the Lord than that won’t be the issue. He has already taught us in Scripture that our hearts are desperately wicked. That is a human fact that tells us we can’t rely nor fall back on ‘trusting ourselves or our gut’. We must seek to trust God’s will and way and we can do that by learning and knowing Him better.
