Read - Proverbs 22:17-23

Envy is a fools emotion.  We have all felt it…the desire for what someone else appears to have that we do not.  Today’s text teaches us to not fall into the trap of envy.  We are taught to replace our envy with fear (respect and awe) of God.  How might this improve our plight?  When we revere and respect God we become aware of His many blessings and benefits.  It is then that we realize we need not envy anything of anyone’s because our Father in Heaven provides us all that we might ever need.

Lord, I yield my heart to you.

Extra Discovery

Disciplining children is brought up in many Biblical passages including today’s text in Proverbs 23:13.  Consider that when God disciplines us that He is proving His love to us and that when you discipline yours you are doing likewise.

Being Morphed by God’s Spirit is being taught (from the inside out) by God Himself.  Our mindset and motivation is changed and we begin to be able to give our time towards a ministry rather than towards mischief.  What can divide our motives and deceive our minds?  Spending time being morphed by the world rather than by the Spirit.  Today’s Proverb lists several deceptions:  wealth, angry people, etc.  Audit your life and let God reveal to you what your Next Steps should be in being truly Morphed by Him.
