Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Jonah 4:2 - I knew that you are a merciful and compassionate God, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
Read - Jonah 1-4
God desires His mercy to be given to all people…even when they have sinned. Romans 5:8 says that ‘while we were still sinners Christ died for us’. Jonah was be the delivery man of a message of mercy to Ninevah but he resisted at first. Have you ever looked at a person and thought they deserved God’s mercy less than you? Most of us have but that is a wrong thought. We are all equally in need of it!
Lord, allow me to share Your mercy with others!
For fun, here is a catchy song remembering the life of Jonah:
In the Beginning, Jonah was in right relationship with God and was given an ability to serve God out of that (Go to Ninevah). Jonah fell into sin (Marred) and lived with horrific consequences due to his disobedience (in the belly of the great fish). Jonah was given a second chance due to the grace of God. He repented and was Mended by God. He became obedient at that point but also dealt with the misleading of the enemy when he couldn’t see why God would shed mercy upon Ninevah.
