3:16 Plan - Week 46 - Day 3 - Year 1 - Isaiah 9:1-10:19

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Isaiah 9:16 For the leaders of the people have misled them. They have led them down the path of destruction.

Read - Isaiah 9:1-10:19

More prophecy about the coming of Jesus!  God is promising light in a dark world in the form of His Son.  He is promising wonderful counsel in place of despair.  He is promising might to the weak and everlasting peace in place of perpetual war.  This is the promise fulfilled in Christ for you and this is why all of our confidence is in Christ and Christ alone!

Lord, give me greater faith as I read of these mighty prophecies fulfilled.

Extra Discovery

Verses like Mark 1:22 indicate what is meant by ‘Wonderful Counselor’: ‘And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes’.

Isaiah 9 & 10 are polarizing in the study of the nature of our Great God.  He is merciful and compassionate in that He has been patient with humanity and is sending a way to salvation.  He is also judge as He foretells the Assyrian invasion and conquest of the people. He is so perfect that both His mercy and judgement should not be questioned. He is a ‘Mighty God’ and we can trust His judgement.  Although His judgment seems harsh, His Saving Son brings peace.
