It takes no size to criticize.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Jonah 2:2 - I cried out to the LORD in my great trouble, and he answered me. I called to you from the land of the dead, and LORD, you heard me!
Read Job 16-18 —
Job ask’s his friends to stop with the ‘help’ because it doesn’t feel like help. He reminds them that he could spout the same critical stuff if he were in their shoes but that he would be an encourager instead. This is a powerful reminder that we are called to encourage others in times of struggle.
Chapter 16:19 is a great verse that shows Job is seeking his support from the right place. He friends are clearly not advocating for him but He is trusting in a higher advocate - God Himself. In times of trouble, never forget who we ultimately need to be on our side.
Chapter 18 is Bildad’s second response is also more severe than his first. He calls Job wicked and predicts great calamity for him. This is the height of pride.
Lord, may I receive and give true comfort that comes from you today!
Read 1 John 2:1-2 to see that we have a perfect advocate in Jesus.
Blind Guides - if we are depending on insight from others alone in our quest for ‘Knowing God’ and ‘Knowing Why God allows bad things’ then we are likely to be disappointed in the level of knowledge we get. Others can help (if they Know God well) but our primary pursuits better include personal devotion to His Word and private prayer.
