When you come to the end of you, there you will find wisdom from God.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Matthew 6:9-13 - Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
Read - Job 29-31
In the courtroom, when the defense rests its case then you prepare to hear from the judge. The book of Job is similar. Job and his friends all close their mouths and the next scene (starting tomorrow) is from a ‘star witness’ of The Lord and then from God Himself!
To long for better days is a nostalgic thing that can be positive if it doesn’t distract us from what God desires of us now nor calls us to in the future. We all look in our rear-view mirror with romantic glasses on…seemingly everything was better before. Let’s be careful not to limit our present or our future by dreaming of days gone by.
In Chapter 31 we hear Job making the case for his purity and integrity. I wonder if I would be so bold in such circumstances. Sure, that is the target but we must be careful when touting our strengths that we don’t over-estimate our position in comparison to a Holy God.
Lord, at the end of my grumbling, let me look faithfully to You for help.
Job mentions his purity in Job 31:1. Here is a great reminder on why sexual purity is important to the follower of Jesus -
In Job 31:37 Job says He would come before God like a prince if given the chance. He would get that chance and recognize his smallness. As we look to God we must never forget that we are looking ‘Upward’ just as the view from Marred to Made in our Triangle Diagram.
