God sees you as a special treasure of His by His Grace and Your Faith in Jesus.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 84: 10-12 - Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.
Read - Exodus 19-20
Moses goes up the mountain to hear from God. The Word he hears is - Obey. Israel commits to do so and Moses acts as a Mediator between them and God. God still desires our Obedience out of our Love for Him.
God shows Himself in splendor and majesty on the mountain and it is a fear-some thing to behold. He warns the people not to approach him and to be pure even to be near the mountain. Do we consider purifying ourselves when coming to God in prayer or devotion?
God gives His people The Law (Ten Commandments) to guide them in living and govern their ways. Out of fear, they ask Moses to bring the messages in the future. Moses brings out an important truth when he tells the people that God’s way of communicating to them is to give them a holy fear so that they will not sin. A Reverent Fear of God is part of our faith.
Lord, let me never lose the awe and reverence of Your Holiness and help me to obey You in all things.
The Purpose of The Law for us today as followers of Jesus:
As you read the 10 Commandments, consider how each of the 10 fit into our Triangle Illustration of God (Knowing God), Man (Loving God) and Creation (Serving God).
