3:16 Plan - Day 4 - Week 11 - Year 1 - Exodus 27-28

To be willing to be a living sacrifice for Christ will require some planning and execution.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

God Almighty, let me meditate upon the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross today and give thanks that this sacrifice gives me an abundant life that I can return to you as a living sacrifice!

Exodus 27-28

God gives instruction on the construction of the altar - the place of animal sacrifice.  These temporary sacrifices were for the nation of Israel to show repentance for their sin and would atone (cover) the people until they sinned again.

The Courtyard, The Oil and the Priestly Garments are all part of the system that would create an atmosphere for sinful man to worship Holy God.  Imagine, this all being required so you could be forgiven and free…until you fell…then again.

Lord, I come to Your altar today and give my life as a ‘Living Sacrifice’, Holy and Acceptable to You (Romans 12:1-2).

Extra Discovery

Here is a basic layout of the tabernacle:

The Tabernacle was a temporary place where the people gained temporary atonement for their sin through a temporary sacrifice.  The New Covenant of Jesus replaces this way and now Jesus has offered a once-for-all-time sacrifice of His Body and Blood so that we may be forgiven forever!  Read Hebrews 10 for greater detail.
