3:16 Plan - Day 1 - Week 14 - Year 1 - Leviticus 11-15

Skin Deep Religion makes little positive impact.  Soul deep sin is a plague to avoid.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Psalm 119:30 I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations. 31 I cling to your laws. LORD, don't let me be put to shame! 32 I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding.

This is a longer text than usual but as we plow through these laws notice the amount of reference to ‘Skin Deep’ issues.  Yes, it is talking physical…however, consider the spiritual implications.

There are even provisions for a ‘Dirty/Unclean Priest’.  Aren’t you glad that the ‘Great High Priest’ (Jesus) is sinless and never dirty?   Hebrews 4:14-16 says he is able to sympathize but is also sinless so He can advocate for us always!

As we read Leviticus 15, we get enough ‘icky’ feelings about fluids to cause us to suit up like we were on staff with the CDC.  Seriously though, God’s Word gives practical wisdom that would preserve many lives in ancient times.

Yield

Lord, I give my body to You as part of my offering as my soul longs after You as well!

Extra Discovery

Read Luke 2 starting at verse 21 to see how Mary (the mother of Jesus) obeyed the laws of purification prior to bringing Jesus to the Temple.

Revelation

Could ancient Israel serve God thru Law?  On the surface, these Levitical laws would outline a way for them to serve God but often times we can get into ritual and routine so that laws can be a checklist that bypasses our heart.  As we can now see, the law was a means of learning our great need of Christ.
