3:16 Plan - Day 2 - Week 14 - Year 1 - Leviticus 16-20

Atoning for sin is no longer a process that you control but a person you follow - Jesus.

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Lord, as I read of the many labors required in the law help me to know that You still call us to Holiness but the pathway to holiness is through Your Salvation through Jesus and not through our works.

Read - Leviticus 16-20

Apply

Atonement - to cover for a sin.  We read multiple chapters to show the long and tedious process to atone for the sin of the people of Israel.  Blood would be required.  It still is but not in the same way.  Now we are covered/atoned one time for all sin.  Do we continue to ask for forgiveness?  Yes.  We actually strive not to sin but when we do we have an advocate with the Father to forgive us (1 John 1:9).

Nakedness - A full chapter on modesty and immorality.  Looking upon someone who isn’t covered well is considered depravity.  What steps can we take to keep our eyes pure?

Why should these people listen to and follow these peculiar instructions?  God says because ‘I Am The Lord Your God’.

Yield

Lord, I am willing to refrain from anything You say is depraved or unclean.  Give me the power to resist that stuff!

Revelation

To Know God is to know He is Holy and that He desires you to be holy.  These laws were to be followed to be holy but they couldn’t be followed perfectly by anyone for centuries until God The Son - Jesus fulfilled them without flaw.  Thus the burden of these many laws was to reveal our inability to find holiness apart from Christ.  As I read, it certainly works.
