To oppose a genuine Christian leader falsely is to oppose God.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 51: 1-4 - Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.
Read - Numbers 16-18
It is a humbling reality to know that a Christian leader must never exalt themselves rather than God. Moses was accused of doing just that and was judged before God and men. The accusers proved in the wrong and paid for their charge. There are times to confront a leader when you see sin but do so privately and with humility. It may be you don’t have all the information or that there is a problem. Let God do the ‘heart-work’ through your humility and caution with such things.
To be a Leader is to intercede for people’s souls before God even when they are in the wrong. Moses led well in this way. God would have destroyed the entire nation due to their sin. As was Moses, we have an even better intercessor in Jesus.
Lord, help me to accept leadership when You give it whether it is to me or to someone I am to follow as they follow You.
Aaron’s Staff is used once again in a supernatural way.
Here you see God using His Creation (the earth) to discipline His Creation (the people). God will use all kinds of ways to communicate His holiness and His plan. Let us pay attention so that He need not split open the ground to instruct us.
