A Call to Serve/Minister to The Lord is a Call to Preparation.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 119:39 Help me abandon my shameful ways; for your regulations are good. 40 I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness.
Read - Leviticus 8-10
Here we get a beautiful picture of discipleship. God speaks. Moses helps the priests to hear God’s clear direction (Chapter 8). Then Moses helps the priests follow all those clear direction and implements the purification process for them (Chapters 8-9). Chapter 10 has a mixture of misled discipleship and clarifying discipleship. Nadab and Abihu clearly disobeyed the commands of God and paid for it. Aaron’s grief holds him back from full obedience along with his two sons and Moses gives provision for this without consequence. God knows our pain and gives grace to us during it.
Lord, prepare me (mind, body and soul) to serve You.
What was the problem with Nadab and Abihu’s fire?
In today’s text we see all three areas of our Triangle. The Priests come to Know God and His Ways (Hearing His Word). Then they come into relationship with Him (thru cleansing sacrifice). Finally, they are commanded to serve God (through administering the sacrifices for the people).
