With God’s Spirit, you can do mighty things!

Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word

Hebrews 4:16 - Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Read - Judges 6-7

Gideon is called out by the angel of The Lord to do something that he felt he was incapable to do.  This is one way to be sure to see God at work in your life - do something that you can’t do without Him!

The fleece of Gideon was him looking to discern that he was not missing God’s plan.  God doesn’t want us to be uncertain but He also doesn’t want us to test Him.  That can sometimes be a fine line.

Before God went before him in battle, Gideon had to do some work in destroying some idols.  This is still often the first step to see God at work in your life - getting rid of the things that have taken His place in our hearts and homes.

Gideon would lead victoriously in battle with an army that our human eyes would say was too small or even insignificant.

Lord, I ask you to use me in mighty ways and commit to trust You as You prepare me to be used.

Extra Discovery

Let’s be careful as we consider ‘laying out fleeces’ to God:

God began changing what Gideon ‘Knew’.  Gideon thought he knew about the smallness of his tribe and people.  God gave him a new identity!  God began changing what Gideon’s family ‘Loved’.  Gideon’s family had many idols and God told Gideon to destroy them which signified that their family should ‘Love God alone’.  These ‘re-orientations’ were needed so that Gideon and the people of Israel would turn back to God and serve Him only.
