God grants us mighty victories in life, let’s not follow those with spiritual defeats.
Pray The Word and Prepare for The Word
Psalm 119:25 - I lie in the dust; revive me by your word.
Read - Judges 8-9
Gideon continues to be used to judge Israel and defeat its enemies. Once peace prevails, he falls into idolatry and the people with him. Even his own family produces evil as Abimilech commits treacherous murder against his brothers (Gideon’s sons) to become leader. Being a Godly servant leader requires staying power and staying power comes from a deep abiding in God’s Word and a reliance upon His Spirit.
Lord, when You provide peace and security help me not to let that comfort bring me into sin.
Named after Gideon, this organization provides numerous Bibles around the world:
Who did Gideon serve at the end of his life? God? Himself? A false idol. He tripped up after a wonderful season of victory. Why? We don’t know all the reasons but we can see the impact it had upon his family. Our ‘serving God’ must come out of our knowing and loving God or it will not endure. The price of quitting too soon is too high to pay.
